Veracode’s Tyler Shields proof-of-concept demonstrates the ease with with spyware can be created to steal both SMS and email, eavesdrop, and track victim’s physical location via smartphone’s GPS

Tyler Shields is a senior researcher for Veracode’s Research Labs at the recent ShmooCon 2010 Hacker Conferencehe released the source code for a proof of concept spyware application that his team created that forces the victim’s BlackBerry to hand over its contacts and messages. The app also can grab text messages, listen in on the victim, as well as track his physical location via the phone’s GPS.
